Paediatrics

The Department of Paediatrics began its journey way back in the 1970s when the Department has grown in leaps & bounds. A tiny seed has grown into a huge green tree and it is on all the strong pillars, “ the Alumni” who shouldered the Department, upon which it stands tall today.

Dr. Verekar, Dr. H.K. Mazumdar, Dr. Laxmi Naik Gaunekar, Dr. H. BhujangRao, Dr.Philomena Pereira D’souza and Dr. Maria Da Piedade Silveira have been the past HODs who nurtured the Department with all their love & affection. Our alumni have excelled in every field & made significant contributions to society.

The department has grown from just general wards to having neonatal & pediatric ICUs providing care to all the sickest newborns & children. Paediatric Neurorehab Centre has been providing services to children with special needs and differently-abled children.

Vision

The Department of Pediatrics shall continue to remain at the forefront of providing the best medical services for newborns and  children in the state of Goa  and strive toward achieving optimal health for all children

Mission

To improve and optimize pediatric services to the children of Goa. To provide the best possible training to undergraduate and postgraduate students of Goa Medical College in the subject of Pediatrics.
