The Department of Ophthalmology, has been an integral part of the Goa Medical College since its inception. It has grown in leaps and bounds both in terms of the services provided as well as the training facilities in the department. From its humble beginnings, as a small part of surgical curriculum, to a well established department with functional subspecialties, the department of Ophthalmology has come a long way..

Vision

Clinical/Surgical Ophthalmology

• Strengthening existing general ophthalmology and cataract surgical services
• Development of subspecialties

Academic Activity

• To create a pool of academically oriented MBBS graduate, Optometry graduates and ophthalmology post graduates.
• To have a robust academic presence in terms of national & international publication.
• To help formulate state and national vision policies based on data.

• To reach out to visual needs of underserved areas of Goa.
