Paediatric Surgery

The Department of Anatomy Goa Medical College, Bambolim, Goa, offers robust Anatomy education to around 600 students in any one academic year with 13 faculty who guide the learning process. The Department caters to Medical, Dental, Nursing and Allied Health Science undergraduate students as well as Postgraduate students of Anatomy, Dentistry, Post-basic diploma in Psychiatric Nursing, MSc Nursing and Occupational therapy. Consequently, we adopt innovative ways of teaching leveraging information technology and making lectures more interactive with case problem-solving. The Department is equipped with infrastructure to practice integrated teaching of topographic, microscopic, developmental, radiological and clinical Anatomy as well as implementation of the AETCOM module as per CBME guidelines.

Paediatric surgery is based on an intricate blend of medical knowledge and surgical expertise that is suited to the intricacies of growing bodies. Paediatric surgeons are not only skilled at executing surgical procedures, but they are also acutely aware of the anatomical and physiological differences that distinguish paediatric patients from adults. These specialists recognize that children are more than just miniature adults; they have distinct growth patterns, tissue characteristics, and responses to medical procedures that demand specialized care.
