Plastic Surgery & Burns
The Department of Plastic Surgery and Burns was created at Goa Medical College on 11th December 2015. However, dedicated Plastic Surgery services were available in the Department of General Surgery since 2001 and an independent Plastic Surgery Unit was created in January 2006. After the establishment of the department, a twelve bedded ward was commissioned in November 2016 and in April 2018, a state-of-the-art Burns Unit for twelve patients was inaugurated. The Plastic Surgery OPD was shifted to the Super Speciality Block in May 2022 and consultation is available on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Besides Plastic surgery, subspecialty clinics in Craniofacial Surgery, Aesthetic Surgery, Hand Surgery, Lymphedema and Cryotherapy are being conducted regularly.
The department has recently been permitted a postgraduate teaching program in MCh (Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery) by the National Medical Council and the first postgraduate student was enrolled in April 2022.

- 2016 – Commissioning of 12 bedded Plastic Surgery Ward 118
- 2018 – Commissioning of 12 bedded Burns Unit Ward 117
- Shifting of Outpatient services to OPD 26 and 27
- 2021 – MCh (Plastic Surgery) permitted by NMC
- 2022 – First MCh (Plastic Surgery) PG admitted
- Shifting of Outpatient services to Superspeciality Block
